Sometimes around the beginning of the pandemic, I eschewed most social media and shut down a couple of the sites I was running at the time -- tired of talking, maybe. Maybe the pandemic was the opportunity to crawl into my cave with my projects and refocus on actually doing the work instead of discussing it. I’ve always much preferred the process, anyway -- the celebratory component is altogether too short-lived and doesn’t offer the same sort of reward as the problem solving and the struggle and the small triumphs experienced privately. ## Pages - [Noisy Ghost Co.](https://noisyghost.co/) - Noisy Ghost Co. is the web, ux, and graphic design portfolio of Kira Butler Frazier. Owens](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/nicole-j-owens/) - Dark Romance Author Website Design Nicole J. Owens The Brief web design for a dark romance author The website for dark romance author Nicole J. Owens includes a five-page website, with new author branding including multiple logo variations in three colours and six styles for print and digital media, an integrated Shopify eCommerce solution to - [Bridgette Day](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/bridgette-day/) - The single-page author website for speculative fiction author, Bridgette Day, highlights the pre-order for her anthology series, Campfire at the Crossroads. As Bridgette uses her newsletter as a primary means of communication with readers, we designed a custom, matching mailer for MailerLite with her branding to incentivize subscribers, and included a lead magnet on her site that ties in with her book. - [Soap Box Co. Tub Tonic](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/soap-box-co-tub-tonic/) - A vintage and retro-inspired look for a bath and body eCommerce shop needed to meet a few project requirements: the design needed to feel like it was reviving a classic apothecary label, but still needed to be pretty, feminine, and feel like a beauty product that fit into the Soap Box Co. brand. - [Jessica Verday](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/jessica-verday-website-design/) - The promotional website for Jessica Verday’s debut novel, The Hollow, was designed with a young adult audience in mind. As the book trilogy has gothic undertones, we chose a layered aesthetic structured like an item owned by the protagonist of the series. A perfumer’s formulary, photographs of the novel’s settings, and even a Snickerdoodle recipe are hidden in Abbey’s “journal” website for teenage readers to discover. - [Villainess Soaps Brand](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/villainess-soaps-brand/) - The Villainess Soaps line of products is expansive. After working together for ten years, Brooke Stant and I have amassed a collection of designs that demonstrate an expaansive catalog of products, limited editions, wholesale products, and special commissions for third-party resellers. No two product labels are exactly alike. Inspired by a vintage collection of Victorian shopping catalogs, the aesthetic makes use of grainy typeset typography, luscious leather patterns, and period-specific illustrations scanned directly from vintage catalogs. - [Villainess Soaps](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/villainess-soaps/) - The Villainess Soaps line of products is expansive. Inspired by a vintage collection of Victorian shopping catalogs, the aesthetic makes use of grainy typeset typography, luscious leather patterns, and period-specific illustrations scanned directly from vintage catalogs. - [MoonaLisa](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/moonalisa/) - With collection and display practices from the Enlightenment as inspiration for the website, we modelled a desktop environment around the theme of an “alchemist’s workshop”. The user looks down on an open book where the product catalogue sits surrounded by found objects, photographed from MoonaLisa’s very own collection of curiosities. - [Kelly Creagh](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kelly-creagh/) - The website for young adult author, Kelly Creagh, draws inspiration from works of Edgar Allen Poe. Her “Nevermore” trilogy of books embrace Poe’s lore wholeheartedly, and it was fitting that the fantasy world inspired the site. Rich purple and nightmare black enfold the notebook pages belonging to her character, Varen Nethers, whose research about Poe’s disappearance permeates each page. - [Lightspeed](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/lightspeed/) - After spending five years as an in-house designer at Lightspeed, it’s safe to say that as a creative professional, you dip your fingers into everything: I conceptualized, planned, and executed designs and strategies that leveraged the company’s brand image, social presence, website, marketing, and corporate identity online, in print, advertising, merchandising, and at industry trade shows. I also participated in and oversaw four website releases. This was my personal favourite. - [Black Phoenix Trading Post](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/black-phoenix-trading-post/) - Black Phoenix Trading Post and Villainess Soaps, together, is a match made in heaven for fans of darker-themed bath and beauty products. The collaboration extends to a number of different products, including soap and sugar body scrubs bearing the co-brand mark. - [LightSpeed Bootcamp Recruit Dossier](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/lightspeed-bootcamp-recruit-dossier/) - With an ever-growing and robust suite of tools for retailers and an expanding Reseller network, Lightspeed often hosts an annual training event to ensure that its channel partners are offered the best and most current insights on product updates. With an annual Certification Camp, Retail Summits, and Certification Road Shows happening regularly, Lightspeed Boot Camp offered new channel partners the opportunity to meet the team and dive into training head-first. - [LightSpeed Boot Camp Website](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/lightspeed-boot-camp-website/) - With an ever-growing and robust suite of tools for retailers and an expanding Reseller network, Lightspeed often hosts an annual training event to ensure that its channel partners are offered the best and most current insights on product updates. With an annual Certification Camp, Retail Summits, and Certification Road Shows happening regularly, Lightspeed Boot Camp offered new channel partners the opportunity to meet the team and dive into training head-first. - [Noir by Brady](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/noir-by-brady/) - The brand design for Noir by Brady needed to fit a few requirements: the typography needed to be contemporary and clean, it needed to be bold enough to work on either a light or dark background, and it needed to accommodate multiple formats for multiple product types. - [Lightspeed Reseller Road Show](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/lightspeed-reseller-road-show/) - The Lightspeed Reseller Road Show website was designed as a single-page, all-inclusive, one-stop for guests to the traveling event to register, obtain session information, and discover additional training materials. The Reseller Road Show was similar to the Boot Camp event, but on a much smaller scale. - [The Midnight Society](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/the-midnight-society/) - The Midnight Society is an online magazine publishing articles that cater to writers in the middle grade and young adult horror and dark fiction genres. Inspired by Are you Afraid of the Dark?, the group discusses everything spooky from pop culture to trends in books. - [KiraButler.com 1.0](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kira-butler-1-0/) - KiraButler.com is the heart of my author platform. I am using the website to focus building market interest in my career as a horror and dark fantasy writer for young adults. It’s a portfolio of my written work, a place to share news with fans of the genre, and a vehicle for generating interest in the topics I write about. It’s a strange and curious venue, where the fantastic is made possible. This was its first iteration. - [Noisy Ghost Books](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/noisy-ghost-books/) - The Noisy Ghost Books brand mark blends a love of reading (and a favourite place to do it — an antique armchair) as well as a subtle reference to poltergeist activity. Small shadows beneath the chair legs indicate that something is levitating the furniture. - [MyLightspeed](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/mylightspeed/) - MyLightspeed Product Dashboard design lets users see the status of their point of sale uptime status, support tickets, and license renewals at a glance — an overview of their relationship with their software in one location. - [Restaurant Whitepaper](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/restaurant-whitepaper/) - 9 Reasons Why Mobile Point of Sale is Better for Your Restaurant examines how your restaurant would benefit from a cloud-based, mobile point of sale system; from increased efficiency and a deeper understanding of your business. The whitepaper was served as a fifteen-page interactive PDF document for download, and was delivered with a website landing page, through email campaigns, and both social media and display advertising for promotion. - [Loss Prevention Whitepaper](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/loss-prevention-whitepaper/) - A white paper designed to address loss prevention in retail stores, bars, and restaurants, addressing such concerns for retailers as the warning signs, employee and cash theft, bookkeeping and administrative errors, and customer theft. “Learn the best practices to keep your store’s money and goods safe.” - [Ghosts & Co.](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/ghosts-co/) - An unusual approach to design warrants an unusual logo. The brand mark for Ghosts & Co. is a jackalope — a cryptid that has a particular personality. We christened him “Truffles.” Not just an ordinary bunny rabbit, the Ghost & Co. brand mascot has antlers. - [Putting your Data to Work Whitepaper](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/putting-your-data-to-work-whitepaper/) - A white paper that educates retailers on the meaning of big and small data, and all the ways you can use it to ensure the success of your retail store. Topics include: using data for business insight, big data and the 3 Vs, data analytics for retail, customer cultivation, and operational efficiency. - [Creating the Perfect Inventory](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/creating-the-perfect-inventory/) - A white paper that teaches retailers about the eight best practices to get the best possible setup for their inventory, as well as the analytics and data that benefit them most. Includes topics such as optimal hierarchy for merchandise categories, data migration, product data directly from the vendor, and reorder points for inventory. - [KiraButler.com 2.0](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kirabutler-com-2-0/) - KiraButler.com is the heart of my author platform. Using the website to focus building market interest in my career as a horror and dark fantasy writer for young adults, it’s a portfolio of written work, a place to share news with fans of the genre, and a vehicle for generating interest in the topics I write about. It’s a strange and curious venue, where the fantastic is made possible. This was its second iteration. - [Horror Writer’s Embosser Seal](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/horror-writers-embosser-seal/) - Using the brand mark for horror writer, Kira Butler, the seal adapts the vintage 1920 Corona typewriter and baby batwings as an integrated logo into the design. The seal’s design was inspired by embosser stamps used to imprint library books, and has been used in multiple applications for stationary. - [KiraButler.com Halloween Edition](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kirabutler-com-halloween-edition/) - KiraButler.com is the heart of my author platform. The Halloween Edition was released temporarily for the month of October, along with themed content. - [Luxury Retreats W3](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-w3/) - Our objectives for the W3 redesign of the Luxury Retreats website were to respect the existing user flows but bolster conversion by improving upon existing systems: ensure that users were able to either find properties in regions they were looking for easily, but also encourage discovery and exploration of similar areas of the world that they might have not yet considered. - [Kira Butler Author Brand](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kira-butler-author-brand/) - The brand mark for horror writer, Kira Butler, incorporates a vintage 1920 Corona typewriter and baby batwings into the logo’s design: blending her love of writing historically-rooted fiction and dark fiction for young adults. The design has been applied to stationary and is predominantly featured on her author website. - [KiraButler.com 3.0](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/kirabutler-com-3-0/) - KiraButler.com is the heart of my author platform. - [Luxury Retreats Travel Itinerary](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-travel-itinerary/) - The Luxury Retreats Travel Itinerary allows users to view, manage, and request additional excursions for their vacation in order to help them better plan their time. Opportunities for upsells are indicated within blank areas of time, and users can view activity details and get alerts on the day of the event. - [Luxury Retreats Desktop Product Detail Page](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-desktop-product-detail-page/) - The design revision for the Luxury Retreats desktop product detail page included solving several inherent design problems in the original design: the revision was to improve a user’s access to details, the design hierarchy of information, and ease of user completion when booking a villa individually or as a group. - [Luxury Retreats Product Category Page](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-product-category-page/) - As a means of increasing service requests for concierge, we tested a scenario on our product category results page, wherein by placing a call to action and trust statement within the top 700px viewing area, we were able to improve conversions 60% over a month-long time span. The design was integrated permanently and adapted for desktop following successful results. - [Luxury Retreats Mobile Product Detail Page](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-mobile-product-detail-page/) - The design revision for the Luxury Retreats mobile product detail page included solving several inherent design problems in the original design: the revision was to improve a user’s access to details, the design hierarchy of information, and ease of user completion when booking a villa individually or as a group. - [Luxury Retreats W3 Mobile](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/luxury-retreats-w3-mobile/) - Our objectives for the W3 redesign of the Luxury Retreats website were to respect the existing user flows but bolster conversion by improving upon existing systems: ensure that users were able to either find properties in regions they were looking for easily, but also encourage discovery and exploration of other areas of the world that were similar, but they might have not yet considered. - [Lightness](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/lightness/) - When Kathy Flynn approached me to produce a logo for her metaphysical school and store, offering workshops and classes for people interested in new age spirituality, we opted to play with the theme of a candle flame integrated into the logo. Typography is clean and minimalistic to suit an uncluttered space. - [Dynamite eCommerce Checkout](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/dynamite-ecommerce-checkout/) - The goal of this design solution was to reduce friction and accordingly, user drop-off before completion. We reduced the number of steps required for a user to complete the checkout process while still supporting best practices for login and guest checkout, added smart completion and pre-population of address fields by leveraging the Google API, and included a simplified ship-to-store feature. We also included a share cart feature to improve conversion in mobile users after finding that mobile’s conversion was drastically lower than that of desktop. - [Dynamite Outfitting](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/dynamite-outfitting/) - We wanted to offer customers the opportunity to shop for components of a featured outfit while browsing products they were already interested in. The simplest solution was to include an in-product toggle with hot spots that could be turned on or off. A tap-through on a hot spot would allow for additional information to be displayed, and allow the user to add additional products to their cart without leaving the product screen. - [Tooth & Bone](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/tooth-bone/) - The Tooth & Bone brand is as much an assembly of items as the collection of oddities the blog houses. It recalls the practices of collection and display from the Enlightenment, largely because the content curated by the T&B blog is similarly themed. - [Noisy Ghost Co. Brand](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/noisy-ghost-co-brand/) - Noisy Ghost Co. is a macabre but affectionate brand. It’s sugar skulls and ice cream, coffins and candy: a red sock accidentally mixed in with the laundry, turning its emblematic death-shroud-sheet… pink. It is the spirit of design that remains curious, inquisitive, and explorative… and occasionally levitates the furniture to get your attention. - [Autumn Wedding Invitation](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/autumn-wedding-invitation/) - Designed for a rustic autumn wedding beneath the fall foliage, the wedding invitation for Kira Butler and Ian Frazier incorporates elements of the event’s decor: fall leaves, berries, and wood elements all set against crisp, white linen paper. Watercolor elements, brush lettering, and delicate typography sit beneath an elegant, natural arch that embrace the couples’ names. - [Ackerly Green Publishing](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/ackerly-green-publishing/) - Drawn from the world building and mythology created by CJ Bernstein for his book series, we produced a number of smaller designed items for fans that could be purchased through the Ackerly Green store, and shared on the forums. Projects include tote bags, buttons, social media artwork, business cards, and a revival of the brand mascot: Herman the Hippocampus. - [The Witch of Laurel Wood](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/the-witch-of-laurel-wood/) - A brand designed around the concept of rebirth, magic, mystery, and darkness that nevertheless embraces its pagan roots -- literally. Belonging to a kitchen witch, iconography for the brand is drawn from the hermetic aphorism, "As above, so below," and references the elements of earth and air, and a balance between them. brand, identity, and logo design The Witch of Laurel Wood about the brand design mystery, magic, and growth A brand designed around the concept of rebirth, magic, mystery, and darkness that nevertheless embraces its pagan roots — literally. We developed his content architecture collaboratively and iterated through a handful of concepts for his brand before building his WordPress site. - [Ghyd Adventures](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/ghyd-adventures/) - Luxury Travel Website Design Ghyd Adventures The Design Brief a bespoke luxury travel experience The objective for this website redesign was to better facilitate the white-glove service package on offer, automating processes, and ensuring that the mobile experience matched the desktop. Guests could select and tailor luxury villa vacations in tropical and European destinations, and - [Truffles & Bedlam](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/truffles-bedlam/) - The Truffles & Bedlam brand embraces a creepy cute aesthetic with pastel goth colours, and indulges in the obscure, odd, and surprising. A maker of magnetic handmade bookmarks, stickers, and papercraft art inspired by fandom and pop culture, the brand design embraces a willingness to play while maintaining a tongue-in-cheek a sense of humour. - [Stacy Angell Curtis](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/stacy-angell-curtis/) - The author website for Christian Romantic Suspense author, Stacy Angell Curtis, highlights her current book series and forthcoming third title, and was designed to grow with her product offering. As Stacy uses her newsletter as a primary means of communication with readers, we designed a matching newsletter to incentivize subscribers, and included a lead magnet on her site. - [Krampus Holiday Party](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio/krampus-holiday-party/) - In German folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure who often emerges around Christmastime and in the companionship of good old St. Nick. According to traditional narratives, Krampus punishes naughty children, stuffing them into his sack to eat them later. Saint Nick, by contrast, rewards the good kids with gifts. Since most Lightspeeders are really just naughty kids in grown-up disguises, we thought it’d be fun to play on this bit of folklore for our Holiday party. ## Categories - [Website Updates](https://noisyghost.co/category/website-updates/) ## Tags - [Portfolio](https://noisyghost.co/tag/portfolio/) ## Portfolios Categories - [Brand Design](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/brand-design/) - [Graphic Design](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/graphic-design/) - [Mobile Design](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/mobile-design/) - [Packaging Design](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/packaging-design/) - [UX/UI](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/ux-ui/) - [Web Design](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-category/web-design/) ## Portfolios Tags - [Author Websites](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-tag/author-websites/) - [Author Branding](https://noisyghost.co/portfolio-tag/author-branding/)
