We developed his content architecture collaboratively and iterated through a handful of concepts for his brand before building his WordPress site.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][mk_page_section vertical_align=”bottom” bg_image=”http://noisyghost.co/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/mobile_bg.jpg” bg_color=”#f7f7f7″ bg_repeat=”repeat-x” min_height=”29″ padding_top=”50″ padding_bottom=”100″ sidebar=”sidebar-1″][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][mk_image src=”http://noisyghost.co/wp-content/uploads/2020/noisyghost_web_design_martinshannon_browser_03.jpg” image_size=”full” align=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][mk_padding_divider size=”50″][vc_column_text align=”center” animation=”fade-in” css=”.vc_custom_1578324119870{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

The brief for Martin-Shannon.com consisted of seven webpages and one Mailchimp email mailing list design to the theme of the primary setting in his books: “Weird Florida”. All designs were prepared to be responsive for mobile, tablet, and desktop environments, and we arranged the content manager to easily allow Martin to edit his SEO content and web page copy.

Through discussion and collaboration, video chats and frequent messages over the course of the project, we tried four or five different colour palettes, and collected a number of found objects pertaining to his world building to anchor the site to his book series. Using Google Docs, I outlined the guidelines for his content architecture, and Martin got to work drafting copy for the site.

We didn’t stop there, though! To ensure that Martin could easily continue editing his website for the future, I prepared a number of video tutorials for him that provided instruction to edit his website copy, use his plugins, and update his images if he changed headshots. We also got his email list up and running. The entirety of the project was completed in ten days, on time, and under budget.

Drawn from the world building and mythology created by CJ Bernstein for his book series, we produced a number of smaller designed items for fans that could be purchased through the Ackerly Green store, and shared on the forums. Projects include tote bags, buttons, social media artwork, business cards, and a revival of the brand mascot: Herman the Hippocampus.

The largest and most varied library of character designs for Herman fall decidedly within the Noisy Ghost “cute” style. At the request of Ackerly Green, we produced some twenty to thirty variations for Herman the Hippocampus, playing with style, position, and structure until we got him just right. From there, we added a cute, stuffed version of King Bunny, and adjusted the structure to put Herman in different poses.

Noisy Ghost Co. Brand

Noisy Ghost Co. Brand Design

Noisy Ghost Co. is a macabre but affectionate brand. It’s sugar skulls and ice cream, coffins and candy: a red sock accidentally mixed in with the laundry, turning its emblematic death-shroud-sheet… pink. It is the spirit of design that remains curious, inquisitive, and explorative… and occasionally levitates the furniture to get your attention.

The Tooth & Bone brand is as much an assembly of items as the collection of oddities the blog houses. It recalls the practices of collection and display from the Enlightenment, largely because the content curated by the T&B blog is similarly themed.

Dynamite Outfitting

Dynamite Clothing "Shop the Look" UX Design

We wanted to offer customers the opportunity to shop for components of a featured outfit while browsing products they were already interested in. The simplest solution was to include an in-product toggle with hot spots that could be turned on or off. A tap-through on a hot spot would allow for additional information to be displayed, and allow the user to add additional products to their cart without leaving the product screen.

Dynamite eCommerce Checkout

Dynamite Clothing Checkout UX Design

The goal for this design solution was to reduce friction and accordingly, user drop-off before completion. We reduced the number of steps required for a user to complete the checkout process while still supporting best practices for login and guest checkout, added smart completion and pre-population of address fields by leveraging the Google API, and included a simplified ship-to-store feature. We also included a share cart feature to improve conversion in mobile users after finding that mobile’s conversion was drastically lower than that of desktop.

Luxury Retreats W3 Mobile

Luxury Retreats mobile website design by Noisy Ghost Co.

Our objectives for the W3 redesign of the Luxury Retreats website were to respect the existing user flows but bolster conversion by improving upon existing systems: ensure that users were able to either find properties in regions they were looking for easily, but also encourage discovery and exploration of similar areas of the world that they might have not yet considered.
